Kids Photos Geelong & Ocean Grove | Kayleigh

Little Kayleigh came in to see me a couple of weeks ago for her Turning One portrait session.  This is seriously one of my favourite ages to photograph.    Big personalities, chubby bubba cheeks, lots and lots of smiles!  Kayleigh was ALL smiles for the entire session and was a joy to photograph. What a beautiful milestone to celebrate :)  Happy birthday soon Kayleigh!

Baby Photos Ocean Grove | Bianca Turns One

Love love this session -  because how adorable is Miss Bianca?    Little Bianca turned the big One and so we had a Simplicity Session in the studio to celebrate her milestone!   She looked adorable in both her beautiful dresses. This is such a lovely age to capture.  There is still that little bit of baby left, the chubbier cheeks, the wobbles when they walk or stand.    They are so close to leaving that babyhood behind, yet it seems like only yesterday they were born.  It's an age where you can see the little boy or girl they will become, and the baby they are leaving behind.   Just gorgeous.

Studio Kids Photography Ocean Grove | The Knights Family

This beautiful little girl came into my studio a few weeks ago.    What a little doll.  At this age kids can be a little shy of strangers but it didn't take her long to warm up to me, and I'm sure my ability to make a total fool of myself with little kids definitely helped! We got some beautiful shots and I really enjoyed this session.  I'm enjoying having more studio sessions when kids are this age as I can really focus on the little details and their beautiful little faces!

Enjoy!  Mum said "it was so nice having a photographer who is also a mum as she knew how to make our daughter feel comfortable at her session" which I think is her nice way of saying I do the silliest things to get those kids happy!  xx

Geelong Family Portrait Photographer | Carrie & Tommy

It was a while ago that I had my sessions with Tommy but I do remember it being a bit of a cold and wet week in Geelong.   It was one of those days all of us mums have every now and then (or weekly for some of us!) where not everything runs smoothly.   A few minutes after we both arrived at the location,  we realised Tommy had no shoes with him, and between us we couldn't find any blankets for the ground. Tommy was really a joy to shoot though.    I have some hilarious, sweet and funny little people in my travels as a photographer, but Tommy really did stand out as someone special.    I remember holding him while his mum went to check our the blanket situation, and playing the 'where's mummy' toddler game with him (is she in the tree?  "noooo!"), but he wouldn't take his eyes off the spot where his mum had gone.

We did manage to get some shoes (too big though, so as cute as they are in the photos, he then promptly chucked them off), and a blanket, and some happy, smiley photos.

I decided do a second session for Tommy so we could get the relaxed mum & bub shots I wanted for them though.   The second session took place in Barwon Heads and we got gorgeous weather this time.  I had to tow along my own little boy for the first time ever (and um, never again!), who proceeded to drop the twisties I'd given him as a bribe to be quiet for half an hour and chucked a tantrum!  Luckily Tommy was such an easy baby to photograph that I got a ton of shots the second time around and more than enough to complete his session.

Lisa & Nathan in Barwon Heads | Geelong Photographers | Surf Coast Photographers

If you've ever booked me before you'll know I send out a questionnaire to each client before their booking in order to get  a 'feel'  for each family and what they would really like out of their session.    I actually get a little buzz when I get each of these through email, it's a little exciting to find out what everyone is after and who I will meet next!   Lisa's comment on the end of her questionnaire was that she just wanted to have FUN FUN FUN, and so I knew in advance that this was a session where we could relax and have fun with it until we got all the shots I felt we needed. I have seriously had a great time meeting really great clients through the local Surf Coast Baby & Kids market, and Lisa was one of those who signed up to one of my Mini Shoot comps and got a runner up prize.    The session date ended up landing on a day of perfect weather in Barwon Heads, so we really did get the opportunity to move around and take our time.  Again, some of you who have booked me for a family session previously might have realised I am pretty hopeless about checking how long we've been shooting for,  and so it's no surprise that we finally finished up the session at almost 6pm!

Little Nathan has the most beautiful eyes, so I knew he'd be very photogenic, but we just couldn't get the little guy to smile!  I'm sure he had us both bouncing around and being silly for a good hour!   I tried every trick in my mental bag!   Every now and then he'd flash his beautiful little smile and so we did end up with a whole variety of expressions, even a few where he looked like he was trying out for a job as a tiny male model!

I also admit that one of my favourite parts of a family session is capturing a mother and child together and so loved that Lisa felt it was really important to be IN the photos.  I totally understand that some people hate being in front of the camera, but some of these images will just mean so much to bubs when they grow up,  and so much to mum, when her little boy is no longer able to be carried around and kissed at whim.

Anyway, here are the images, enjoy!   Was lovely to meet you both and your beautiful products are on their way!

Chloe | Geelong & Surf Coast Family Photography

I wish all my potential clients who are worried their kids won't sit still could have seen Chloe's session!  Many people who haven't had a family photography session before worry so much that their kids won't 'sit and pose' and therefore I won't get any photos,  and yet I can count on one hand the number of 2 year olds who will sit and pose!     After the first few minutes, Chloe found the beach far more interesting than my camera and so she should!     We got some gorgeous photos following Chloe around (and boy did she run around!) - and this way you get images of your kids looking genuinely happy and interested! The other thing I must point out is how the clothing you choose really does shape the 'feel' and look of the session.  Chloe's outfit is really gorgeous, and fit the location and her personality perfectly.  I really encourage everyone to think carefully about the clothing you choose, and I'm happy to give you my opinions on your selections before the day.  I provide new clients with a session guide PDF that has a bit of clothing advice too.

Anyway here is the very gorgeous Miss Chloe, one of this year's Father's Day Mini Sessions :)

Archie | Geelong Family and Children Photographer

You can tell how behind I am in my blog posts when Archie's already had two sessions and I hadn't gotten around to blogging his first! The first time I met little Archie he was about 4.5 months old and super cute.  We had a very sunny session in Barwon Heads with Archie & his mum and dad.

Six months later or so and Archie's mum had gathered up her mum's group ladies and we all had a big baby group session!     Poor Archie had a cold at the time but he was still quite a trooper and I still got some gorgeous shots of him smiling away.
