Baby scarlett | Newborn photos Ocean grov
Scarlett’s newborn session was one of those quiet, gentle shoots that I really love.
There was nothing complicated about this one. We kept everything very simple and focused on closeness, connection, and all those tiny newborn details that disappear far too quickly. Soft light, neutral tones, and a very relaxed pace.
A lot of this session was close-up. Faces in close, hands wrapped around tiny fingers, those in between moments where parents naturally lean in without thinking. I’m always trying to photographing families this way because it feels emotionally honest even if we are jazzing it up with some pretty blankets! It’s how those early days actually feel when you look back on them.
I also love including macro images during newborn sessions if parents want them, and Scarlett gave us plenty of beautiful little details. Tiny hands, soft lashes, and those delicate newborn features that change almost before you realise they have. These are often the images parents end up treasuring the most, because they capture just how small everything once was.
There was no need to over style anything here. Scarlett was perfect just as she was, and the simplicity allowed her (and her family) to be the focus.
This is the kind of newborn photography I aim for :)
Of course, as the client, you decide the makeup of your session - lots of family images? done. Just baby? done. Half half? also done! But within that, we’ll get the most beautiful shots.
